The Best of Cusco

Day 1: Cusco Walking Tour

Once you arrive from your early morning flight to Cusco, you will transfer to your hotel. The remaining morning time is free for acclimation. Lunch is on your own. Afternoon brings you to our walking city tour, featuring some of the most remarkable attractions in Cusco:

  • Qoricancha, the Temple of the Sun to witness the exquisite stone work achieved by the incas.
  • Cusco Cathedral, the main catholic church considered as the main expression of colonial architecture.
  • The impressive Plaza de Armas of Cusco and its surrounding historical streets.

Overnight in Cusco

Day 2: Pisaq and Saqsayhuaman

After breakfast we will begin our full day tour of the Inca legacy across the Urubamba Valley. Along the way, you have the option to visit a zoo to see the llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, condors and pumas, as well as other stops in the nice lookouts before arriving to Pisaq. Once there we’ll visit:

  • Pisaq Inca Town, over an impressive mountain surrounded by beautiful terraces where it is possible to see the houses and the sectors the Inca towns formerly had.
  • Pisaq Market, a colorful place to interact with the townsfolk and artisans and to shop for handicrafts and souvenirs.

Lunch In Pisaq is at your own expense. We will then proceed to visit the Archaeological Park of Saqsayhuaman, its extensive ruins of an Inca fortress overlooking all of Cusco. Finally, we will visit the Inca religious complexes of Qenqo, Tambomachay and Puca Pucara. Overnight in Cusco

Day 3: Tipon & Pikillaqta

In the morning we will visit the famous temple of water of Tipon, the foremost example of Inca application of hydraulic engineering. We will also discover the pre-Incan ruins of Pikillaqta, a ceremonial hub that still remains very well preserved, given that it has been abandoned for nearly a thousand years! Around noon we will return to Cusco, where you will have lunch (on your own). Afternoon is free — we recommend you visit some of the museums included in the General Tourist tickets. Overnight in Cusco

Day 4: Chinchero

Departure by bus to Chinchero, where you will enjoy the tour of the ruins amid mountains and glaciers. You will also be able to explore the handicrafts market and visit a local artisan’s house. Lunch in Chinchero (included). After lunch you will ride to Ollantaytambo town, where you will then take the train to Machupicchu in the afternoon. Reception and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Aguas Calientes

Day 5: Machupicchu

Departure from the hotel with the guide. We will take the bus to the Inca citadel of Machupicchu, one of the contemporary Seven Wonders of the World. After this tour you can climb to Huaynapicchu or Machupicchu Mountain, from where you will have an incredible view of the Inca citadel, ideal for taking pictures. Then you will be free for resting or exploring Machupicchu or having lunch by yourself. Return to Aguas Calientes by bus and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free and you can use this time to walk around the town. Optionally you can go to the hot spring pools, a trademark feature of Aguas Calientes (the name kind of implies it – “Aguas Calientes” meaning “Hot Waters”) Overnight in Aguas Calientes

Day 6: Ollantaytambo

In the morning you will bid farewell to Aguas Calientes and return by train to Ollantaytambo. Reception at the train Station and transfer to the hotel in Ollantaytambo. Once you’re settled in, you can visit the town and the impressive temple of the incas there on your own. Ollantaytambo features cobblestone streets and a man-made canal that brings fresh water up to the city limits. Lunch is on your own. Overnight in Ollantaytambo

Day 7: Maras & Moray

Departure from Ollantaytambo to Cusco by van. On our way we will visit Moray, an experimental center of agriculture featuring an enthralling arrangement of circular terraces. We will also visit the mining town of Maras, known for its traditional harvesting of salt from over 5,000 evaporation ponds!

Lunch at your expense. Reception and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Cusco

Day 8: Cusco

Today you are free to visit and explore Cusco, World Heritage city and Historic Capital of Peru. We recommend you visit the San Blas neighborhood, an iconic artist hub, along with the San Pedro traditional market, the Pre-Columbian Art Museum, and the Inca Museums across town. Also worth attending is a show of traditional dances in the theater of the Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo. Overnight in Cusco

Day 9: Lima City Tour

Transport to the Cusco airport for your flight to Lima. We will pick you up from the Lima airport to have lunch (on your own) and have a colonial city tour visiting the traditional Lima downtown. We then go to enjoy the Magic Water Circuit in the Parque de la Reserva, near Lima Downtown. Finally, we will transfer you to Lima Airport for your flight back home.
